Welcome to
the Alabama Women in Business (AWIB) website.
While our roots go back over 30 years, we reorganized in August 2010 and
changed our name.
For those of
you, who do not know AWIB let me tell you a little bit about what we do. Alabama
Women in Business (AWIB) is a non-profit organization that supports women
business owners through training, networking, mentoring and strategic
alliances.
The economic
importance of women-owned businesses is evidenced by impressive statistics. Here
are some little-known facts about these businesses:

Women-owned
businesses contribute $3 trillion to the U.S. economy, in part by employing
nearly 8 million people.
·
Alabama
is ranked 7th on the list of states with the fastest-growing number
of women-owned businesses.
Although Alabama’s
women-owned businesses are growing at rates that exceed national averages, we still
face the challenge of obtaining venture capital and growing beyond the start-up
phase. Too often, entrepreneurship is an isolated experience where women waste
time reinventing the wheel and learn critical business lessons too late.
With so many business groups out there, it is important for
women to be part of an organization, like AWIB, that is focused specifically on
their needs. Many women business owners have learned that the road to success
is less bumpy in a community of like-minded entrepreneurial women.

next meeting, you will join us in our mission either as a business owner
